Earlier, speaking at the meeting, Vice-chairman and Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai told the party cadres that there was no factionalism in the Maoist party, and said that Prachanda was there as the "leader of the leaders" in the party so there was no reason for them to be afraid of factionalism even if it existed.
In a dramatic move, Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda today announced that he was moving out of the Lazimpat residence turning over all his property to the party. He made the announcement in the extended central committee meeting of the party that concluded this evening. Party cadres cheered him when he announced the decision. He will also return the Japanese Prado jeep he has been using to the government.
He also said that he would move in to the apartment the government would provide former Prime Ministers with. Prachanda took this decision following the angry comments of the representatives on the luxurious lifestyle of party leaders and lack of transparency in financial dealings.
