Reactions to Gyanendra’s Statement Continue

Issue 14, April 04, 2010

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

March 28, 2010: political leaders have continued to react to the statement of Gyanendra on the possibility of the monarchy coming back in Nepal.

Some political analysts say that this time Gyanendra is driving nails on his own coffin and would meet the end, as did the monarchy. So, it is no more than his sin pushing him to make such remarks. In fact, his statement would bring all political leaders back to the consensus politics according to some political analysts.

General Secretary of CPN-UML Ishwor Pokhrel has said that the Gyanendra’s statement on the possibility of revival of the monarchy is the direct result of the inability of political parties. He did not bother to blame a single party but has blamed all political parties for most probably the inability of breaking up the current political deadlock.

However, one of the Deputy Chairmen of UCPN-Maoist Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has been specific and has said that Gyanendra Shah has been bold enough to say such a politically impossible thing because of the impotence of the current government of the defeated people.

Only Kamal Thapa leader of the pro-monarchy party called Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal has supported the statement of Gyanendra on the possibility of the monarchy coming back in Nepal.
