Replacing Words To Match Spirit Of Republic
By KTM Metro Reporter
April 15, 2013: the Interim Election Council of Ministers has directed the Ministry of Law and Justice to make arrangements for replacing the words such as 'kingdom' and 'his majesty' to match the spirit of the republic. The meeting of the Council of Ministers on April 12, 2013 decided to replace some words and phrases used in 102 laws during the then regime but have been still in use even after seven years of the abolition of the monarchy, ‘The Rising Nepal’ writes quoting RSS.
The irony is that every government rarely cares about amending laws, rules and regulations that contradict with the constitution. For example, the constitution has the provision for women to be equal with men but a number of laws, rules and regulations continue to be biased against women. The government makes laws but ignores to circulate them to the district administration making the people difficult to get the services following the laws.
The current government has done at least to remove certain words that have remained in the laws even after so many years of the republican setup in Nepal.
