Supporting For And Protesting Against The Interim Election Council

Issue 12, March 24, 2013

By KTM Metro Reporter

March 17, 2013: the Rastriya Prajantra Party-Nepal headed by Kamal Thapa held a rally at Thapathali in support of the Interim Election causing heavy traffic jam, as the participants at the rally had been blocking the traffic. Apparently, the paid cadres had been shouting slogans that did not make a sense to the commuters that wanted to reach their destinations as soon as possible. Who gave the Leader Kamal Thapa to send his cadres to cause the traffic shutdown violating the rights of the common folks to travel without hindrances?

Similarly, other opposition parties including the CPN-Maoist-Vaidhya blocked the traffic to hold a mass rally at the heart of Kathmandu protesting against the Interim Election Council. Chairman of the CPN-Maoist-Vaidhya Mohan Vaidhya Kiran said that his party was not going to take part in the elections to be held by the Interim Election Commission. Mr. Vaidhya did nothing but violated the human rights of the commuters, as did Kamal Thapa. The day would come when these human rights violators would be brought to justice.

Another so-called leader Upendra Yadav of the Madheshi People’s Rights Forum-Nepal said that the constitution crafted by the four major political parties would not acceptable to him. He would present a parallel constitution. Mr. Yadav once had been a leader of the largest Madheshi People’s Right Forum but he could not stay on at the top of the large party, now, his party has been reduced to a few hundred cadres he could keep.
