Allowing Indian-owned Vehicles Only With Essential Goods

Issue 41, October 7, 2012

By KTM Metro Reporter

October 1, 2012: in a statement issued in Kathmandu yesterday, Vaidya-CPN-Maoist assured Indian-owned vehicles of allowing to run in Nepal if they are carrying essential goods of daily use including petrol, diesel and gas to Nepal according to nepalnews.com.

Comments: who gave Mr. Vaidhya and his cadres to make decisions on to let which vehicles to run and which not in Nepal? What authority Mr. Vaidhya has to say anything about the private business? It would be better for Mr. Vaidhya and his cadres to mind their own business because minding other people’s business is a criminal act subject to prosecution.

Chairman of CPN-Maoist Mohan Vaidhya yesterday clarified that his party was not imposing a total ban on all Indian vehicles or banning all Hindi movies in Nepal. He said that the move was only symbolic and intended to open discussions on national independence and sovereignty. Vaidhya, however said his party was for building better relations with neighboring countries, writes ‘HIMALAYAN NEWS SERVICE’.

Chairman of MPRF-Nepal Upendra Yadav said that the Vaidhya-Maoist party is provoking communal tensions in the Madhesh because Madheshi Nepalis might counter the ban on Indian-owned vehicles, Indian movies and Indian songs violently. “Hindi is not only a language of India, but also of the Madhesh as well. Nepali language entered the region only after the 1950s. Prior to that, Madheshis used to speak Hindi, Urdu and Farsi. What will happen if the Madheshis threaten to ban Nepali movies across the Madhesh?,”  ‘HIMALAYAN NEWS SERVICE‘ quotes Yadav as asking.
