Details of Arms and Ammunition Import

Issue 10, March 07, 2010

BY KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

March 3, 2010: the Legislative Committee on State Affairs has instructed Prime Minister Madhav Nepal in presence of Home Minister Bhim Rawal to provide the committee with the details of arms and ammunitions the government has imported after the elections for the Constituent Assembly within a week. Recently, the Madhav government has refused to make public the three-truck loads of arms and ammunitions imported from India despite the strong protest launched by the Maoist cadres, human rights activists and media people thus denying rights of the people to information.

Similarly, the committee has also drawn the attention of Prime Minister Madhav Nepal to the need for breaking the current political deadlock for completing the peace process and writing a new constitution on time, and also to the need for creating an environment conducive to make all the state agencies work cooperatively, and also to appoint and transfer state staffs following the rules and regulations.
