Uncertainty About Resignation Of Prime Minister
By KTM Metro Reporter
August 12, 2011: "The PM is determined to make a breakthrough in the peace process by August 13. If that is secured, he will not resign from the post," PM’s press advisor Surya Thapa told The Rising Nepal. Asked about the media report on the PM’s resignation on August 12, he dismissed the news. "It is totally fabricated. I am surprised how such news circulated," he added, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes.
It might not be surprise for the NC lawmakers that have released the House from their captivity after the prime minister assured them of quitting the office by August 13, 2011. It would not be surprise, too if the NC lawmakers again take the House hostage for forcing the prime minister to quit the office.
The NC lawmakers have one goal that is to capture the state power. They are convinced of the lawmakers of small parties, Madheshi parties, NC and CPN-UML together will make a majority in the House and they could elect a new prime minister by their majority votes. To hell with the consequences of their actions, and of course with the peace process and the constitution writing, they just want power. That is it.
One of vice-chairmen of UCPN-Maoist Mohan Baidhya ‘Kiran’ yesterday has said that the Prime Minister needs to quit the office only after building a consensus on a new government. "There is no point in resigning without any agreement. A caretaker government cannot take the peace and constitution building process to the conclusion," ‘The rising Nepal’ of today quoted Baidhya saying at a book-launching program held in Kathmandu.
Vice-chairman Baidya has said that there is no alternative to movement for the complete liberation of the people and the more his party has made compromise on the constitution writing the more a constitution would be without any guarantee of the rights of the people.
At the same time, spokesperson for the government Ganga Lal Tuladhar has said that the government has been sure the CA term should be extended by another three months to complete its tasks; the amendment proposal would be registered at the CA secretariat by Saturday for it to mature, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes.
