Indian Former Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran's Nepal Visit For Building Consensus

August 26, 2010: speaking at India's lower House called Lok Sabha, Indian Minister for External Affairs S.M. Krishna said, "Special Envoy Shri Shyam Saran visited Nepal from 4 - 6 August, 2010 to meet with a cross section of Nepalese political leaders and to express India’s genuine desire as a neighbor and time-tested friend of Nepal, to see a successful conclusion of the peace process and the drafting of a new Constitution through the building of a consensus among all parties concerned", the nepalnews.com reports.

Mr. Saran’s visit has been at the time of holding one election after anther to elect a new Prime Minister. Certainly, he is in Nepal to elect a Prime Minister of the Indian choice but Mr. Saran has not been able to convince of anyone of the political leaders of the need for electing a new Prime Minister not to mention the consensus politics for completing the peace process and the drafting of a new Constitution.
