SC Annuls Appointments Made By Constitutional Council

September 17, 2010: A full bench of justices comprising Top Bahadur Magar, Sahid Ali Ansari and Krishna Prasad Upadhyaya of the Supreme Court of Nepal has annulled the appointments made to the commissioners at Commission on Investigation into Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Election Commission (EC), Public Service Commission (PSC) and Auditor General (AG) in absence of one of the members of the opposition party UCPN-Maoist Prachanda. Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda as the member of the Constitutional Council representing the main opposition party has filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court of Nepal appealing for annulling the appointments made in his absence.
