By KTM Metro Reporter

May 11, 2013: presiding over the all-party meeting at the state secretariat in Kathmandu yesterday, Chairman of Interim Election Council of Ministers Khil Raj Regmi said that they should not put the four political parties to shame calling them a syndicate, and the government, too calling it a puppet of the syndicate, according to the news in ‘gorkhapatra’ of today.

Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda said, “We have not imposed a four-party syndicate; let us not take the efforts made on breaking the political deadlock as the syndicate.” He also said that the common folks have been suspicious of whether the elections would be held or not; so let us set up commission on delineating the new boundaries of constituencies, start delineating the boundaries, and announce the election date; let us not argue that the numbers of members of a new constituent assembly but keep the previous number of 601, and follow the previous provision for the proportional representation.

NC Vice-president Ram Chandra Poudel said that the number of members of a new Constituent Assembly should be less than the proposed 491. He also said that the four parties have been playing the role as wanted by the small parties; so, they should not call the four parties a syndicate.

Chairman of CPN-UML Jhalanath Khanal said that the number of the members of a new Constituent Assembly should not increase 491, and the threshold of votes for the proportional representation should be kept at any cost.

Chairman of CPN-Maoist Mohan Vaidhya in a reply to the invitation of the chairman of the Interim Election Council of Ministers to an all-party meeting on Friday, May 10, 2013, laid out three conditions: annul the ‘Removal of Constitutional Hurdles Ordinance” issued on March 14, 2013, annul the citizenship certificates given to the non-Nepalis, and annul the appointment of Lokman Singh Karki to the chief of the Commission on Investigation into Abuse of Authority, for participating in the meeting, according to the news in ‘gorkhapatra’ of today.
