November 19, 2010: going against the previously reached understanding of the Officiating Finance Minister will present the budget only after all major political parties such as UCPN-Maoist, NC, and CPN-UML agreeing on the budget, the officiating Finance Minister has attempted to present the budget for the fiscal year 2010 (2067) in the parliament even though the three major political parties have failed in reaching the understanding on the budget, hoping the majority votes will pass the budget. After the Maoist legislators’ protest against the budget, the House Speaker has called off the session only to start again on December 02, 2010.
After the House Speaker has opened the House session today, UCPN-Maoist legislators have moved to the rostrum and chanted slogans against the government’s decision on presenting the budget without the three major political parties reaching the agreement on it; speaking to the reporters, Maoist leader Dev Gurung has said that the government has attempted to present the budget with programs and policies not acceptable to the Maoists, so they have no choice but to obstruct it at any cost, nepalnews.com writes.
