External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid Returns To India

July 10, 2013: Indian External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid returned to India yesterday evening after completing an one-day visit to Nepal.


At the meeting with Indian External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid, Chairman of Interim Election Council of Ministers Khil Raj Regmi has said that the government and political parties have been engaged in holding the elections to a new Constituent Assembly impartially and in a free and fearless environment, according to Spokesman for the office of Council of Minister Mahendra Kumar Thapa.

 

Indian External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid in turn has said that India supports the peace process, institutional development of democracy, and the upcoming elections to a new Constituent Assembly in Nepal.

 

In one-day visit to Nepal, Indian External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid met with the head of state President Dr Ram Baran Yadav, chairman of council of Ministers Khil Raj Regmi, his Nepalese counterpart Madhav Prasad Ghimire.

 

Before meeting with Chairman Regmi, Indian External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid held bilateral talks with his Nepalese counterpart at the office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at Singhadurbar in Kathmandu, in which they talked about trade, transport, and hydropower development, according to Spokesman for Ministry of Foreign Affairs Arjun Bahadur Thapa.

 

Indian External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid also met with the Nepalese political leaders including chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda at the Dwarika Hotel in Kathmandu.
