Issue 42, October 17, 2010

By KTM Metro Reporter

October 14, 2010: Speaking at a tea party held by the NC Thimi Chapter in Bhaktapur today, General Secretary Prakash Man Singh has said that his party will not withdraw the candidate from the Prime Ministerial election even if it goes indefinitely until the UCPN-Maoist makes a written pledge to set the time-table for integration of Maoist combatants and for dissolving the paramilitary structure of the Young Communist League (YCL), ‘The Himalayan Times’ reports. In addition, he has blamed the UCPN-Maoist and the CPN-UML for the current political deadlock saying it is shameful that the country has not a new government even after 100 days of the resignation of Prime Minister.

Some media persons say that the country will not have money for repairing roads, bridges, and providing the state-run hospitals with medicines and so on because of not forming a government and not submitting a budget for the FY 2011 (2067). The reality is that the government has terribly failed in repairing and maintaining roads and bridges and highways. Recently, the Prime Minister himself has seen the bridge over the Trishuli River in Mugling area has been in a pretty bad shape due to the lack of maintenance and repair. The traffic has been kept one way on this bridge to stop it from collapsing but the government has been sleeping until the officiating Prime Minister has visited the area to see it for himself.
