Seminar On Nepal’s Foreign Policy And Future Course´

November 22, 2010: the Center for South Asian Study has held a seminar on “Nepal’s Foreign Policy And Future Course” in Kathmandu today in which former Foreign Ministers have presented papers, myrepublica.com writes.

Presenting his paper, former Foreign Minister Upendra yadav has said that the relations between Nepal and India has been problematic because of the India’s strategic interest in the Himalayan region; however, both countries need to address each other’s concerns for strengthening the relations between the two countries.

At the same seminar, former Foreign Minister Ramesh Nath Pandey has said in his paper on “Nepal’s Relations With China And Japan” that China and Japan have no interest at all in Nepal whatsoever; however, China’s main interest is to see Nepal adopt one-China policy; Nepal is strategically located in the region; so, both neighboring countries emerging as global powers naturally want to enhance their influence in Nepal.

Former Foreign Minister Dr Prakash Chandra Lohani in his paper on “Relations Between Nepal and US” has said that the US takes Nepal as one of the oldest friendly countries and has its interest in the Nepal’s sovereignty, unity and independence.
