Freeing Daughter Cost Millions For Devkota

August 08: Former Minister and neurologist-surgeon Dr Upendra Devkota paid Rs 13 million to the kidnappers of his daughter Megha. She was kidnapped from home on Saturday, August 02, 2008.

Dr. Devkota informed the police about the kidnapping of his daughter and the police cordoned off the area suspected to be where the kidnappers have held his daughter. After finding the police have surrounded their hiding area the kidnappers threatened to kill his daughter. Dr. Devkota was surprised how the kidnappers came to know the police’ actions when only the police officers and he knew the plan to surround the suspected area.

Initially, the kidnappers demanded Rs 100 millions from Dr. Devkota but he negotiated to Rs 13 millions. The kidnappers in black masks delivered his daughter according to the local media.
