Lethargy In Law Enforcement

Issue 18, May 2, 2010

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

May 1, 2010: the private media have reported that the small retail storeowners have closed their businesses in protest against the donation drive of the Maoists’ cadres to finance the upcoming rallies for ‘peace and constitution’ in Kathmandu on April 30, 2010. According to the press reports, Maoists’ cadres have asked the amount of donations much more higher than they can pay, so they have no alternative but to close their businesses.

In the press conference, the Police have said that they have no complaints about the donation drive, so the police cannot take any actions against anybody based on the press reports.

Thus, the police have proved the press reporters wrong and at the same time, refuse to check the reality and enforce the rule of law. Thus, the Madhav government has not only bullied the rule of law and has made his police to be lethargic in enforcing the laws.
