National Government or People’s Revolution

Issue 25, June 21, 2009

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

On June 16, 2009, Maoist chairman Prachanda has submitted a political document at the politburo meeting of the United Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (UCPN-Maoist) for discussion. Chairman Prachanda has prepared the political document considering the global communist movement and political situation, and then the national political situation and the communist movement, and then has given the strategy and future program of the UCPN-Maoist.

Prachanda also has stated in his political document the need for a national government led by his party following the consensus politics, and put stress on the correction of the unconstitutional step of the President and the restoration of the civilian supremacy over the army.

The local media reports say that a group led by Mohan Baidya ‘Kiran’ may present another political document at the meeting proposing the ‘People’s Revolution’ for setting up a People’s Republic considering the most unlikely case of rectifying the unconstitutional step of the President.
