Prime Minister Will Not Quit Office

July 13, 2012: speaking at an all-party meeting held by Nepal Sadbhawana Party in Kathmandu today, Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda said that the Prime Minister would not quit the office until an alternative arrangement was made to replace him; if the prime minister were to quit the office without making such an arrangement, it would invite a political crisis; so his party did not favor the prime minister quitting the office, according to the news posted on ‘thehimalayantimes.com and nepalnews.com
The opposition parties such as NC and CPN-UML had been demanding the prime minister to quit the office, and pushing the head of state President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav to fire the prime minister and not to accept the budget for the FY 2012 through the presidential ordinance.
Chairman Prachanda also called on all political parties to hold fresh elections to a new CA for promulgating a new constitution, and said that his party was not in favor of promulgating a new constitution by any other means other than a CA; so, no alternative to the fresh elections to a new CA was available to resolve the political contentious issues concerning the state restructuring and federalism and to meet the people’s aspirations for an inclusive federalism.
