Shame On Some Diplomatic Missions Not Allowing Expansion Of Roads

July 31, 2013: American, Chinese German and Russian embassies in Kathmandu refused to move their boundary walls built without taking legal permission from the Kathmandu Metropolitan Municipality causing the expansion of the roads in those areas impossible, according to the news in the State-run newspaper ‘gorkhapatra’ of today. According to the news, none of the diplomatic missions took the permission from the Kathmandu Metropolitan Municipality for the boundary walls constructed encroaching on the roads.

 

According to the news in ‘gorkhapatra’, the commissioner of the ‘Kathmandu Valley Development Authority’ Bhaikaji Tiwari said that construction of the compound walls illegally built by the embassies could be stopped at that time if the law enforcement officials had paid an attention to the illegal construction done by those embassies.

 

French and Japanese embassies have being asking for the compensation for the structures they have built on the land encroaching on the roads.

 

Australian, and Swiss embassies have demolished their compound walls and allowed the expansion of the roads following the request of the government of Nepal.
