Assault on Radio Media Man in Nepal

July 21, 2010: the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) has condemned the assault on Pramod Shah, Director of Radio Janakpur, Southern Nepal by a group of masked people at his home on the evening of July 18 according to the press release of the IFJ. The attack has left the Radio Director unconscious and badly injured.

The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has reported that about 11 people came to the Shah’s home about 8.30 PM, and attacked him with rods and canes, and left him unconscious. Shah sustained deep injuries to his head and back, and is undergoing treatment in hospital.

 “The IFJ joins with the FNJ in demanding that Nepal’s authorities arrest all perpetrators of this horrendous attack, and make tightened security of journalists in Nepal a top priority,” the press release says.
