Civil Society Leaders Stage Sit-in At Constituent Assembly Building

February 4, 2010: Leaders of the civil society have stage a twenty-four hour sit-in at the Constituent Assembly building starting on the Monday afternoon and ending on the Wednesday afternoon calling on the political leaders to complete the peace process rationally and the writing of a new constitution on schedule.
They have warned the political leaders of launching a peaceful movement for peace and democracy if the political leaders deviate from performing their duties of concluding the peace process rationally and writing a new constitution on time.
They have also said that the main political leaders have been engaged in the game of charging and counter charging against each other with the intention of grabbing power causing the widening rift among the political parties when the need is for the consensus politics.
They have demanded the political leaders and the Government of Nepal to institutionalize the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, to follow the Comprehensive Peace Agreement and the consensus politics for moving forward, and to ratify the statute of the International Criminal Court.
