Committee on Studying Concept Papers on Constitution

On May 27, 2009, the Constituent Assembly has set up a 15-member Committee on ‘Studying Concept Papers and Preliminary Draft Proposals’. Maoist Member of the Constituent Assembly Post Bahadur Bogati proposed that the Constituent Assembly set up a Committee on ‘Studying Concept Papers and Preliminary Draft Proposals’, Nepali Congress Member Laxman Ghimire, CPN-UML Member Bim Acharya and Madheshi Janadhikar Forum Member Ram Charan Chaudary seconded the proposal. The committee has been empowered to study the drafts and concept papers on a new constitution to be submitted by ten thematic committees. The National Interest Preservation Committee has submitted its draft concept paper. The Committee on ‘Studying Concept Papers and Preliminary Draft Proposals’ will held discussion on it on May 31, 2009. The Constituent Assembly has called off the discussion on the concept paper on a new constitution presented by the National Interest Preservation Committee on May 27, 2009.
