June 12, 2011: Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal has been telling the Nepalis that he has been committed to complete the peace process and the crafting of a new constitution. However, it is sure that he has been doing nothing to make his commitment come true.
Speaking at the inaugural function of the national conference of the district presidents of Nepali Congress held at Dhulikhel of the Kavre district yesterday, former President of NC Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that a new constitution will not be completed within three months.
In a meeting with the Speaker at his residence at Nayabazaar,, Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda has repeated his commitment to enforce the five-point deal the three major political parties such as UCPN-Maoist, NC and CPN-UML reached on May 29, 2011 and complete the peace process and the crafting of a new constitution.
One of the main points of the five-point deal is the resignation of Prime minister Jhalanath Khanal to pave the way for a national consensus government. Mr. Khanal has been telling the leaders aspiring to the office of prime minister first build a national consensus on a new government then he will quit the office but Vice-chairman of UCPN-Maoist Dr. Baburam Bhattarai and NC leader Ram Chandra Poudel have been asking the prime minister to quit the office following the five-point deal.
