On Saturday, December 01, 2007, speaking at the annual convention of Western Region Petroleum Dealers Association held in Butwal, Newly appointed Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Shyam Sundar Gupta promised to fight corruption at Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC), and make the fuel supply regular soon

Logically thinking Nepalis believe that the short supply of the petroleum products in the Nepalese market is the deed of the government to amass money as much as possible before the CA elections, as the petroleum products are easily available in the parallel market at double the prices.
