Delay In Building 32MW Rahughat Hydroelectric Project

Issue 03, January 20, 2013

By KTM Metro Reporter

January 13, 2013: the possibility of completing the 32MW Rahughat Hydroelectric Project in the Maygdi district in 2014 as scheduled has been slim after the contractor named IVRCL Ltd has stopped work demanding an increase in the budget, according to moneycontrol.com news of today.

The contractor has moved the machinery and equipment to the project site but the government has asked the contractor not to start the work until a project-monitoring cell (PMC) is set up causing time overrun. So, the contractor wants to revise the cost, as the contractor could not work on the estimates of 2010. The contractor wants at least 10% increase in the cost estimate. Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) and the contractor are working on the deal.
