Five Nepalis Killed In Afghanistan

April 1, 2011: news posted on the nytimes.com today says, “The governor of Balkh Province (Afghanistan), Atta Mohammad Noor, said that seven United Nations employees were killed in all, five Nepali security guards and two European international staff, one of them a woman. He said earlier reports of beheadings were unfounded; all of the victims were shot.”
In response to the burning of a Koran in Florida on March 20, 2011, after the Friday prayer, thousands of prayers coming out of the Blue Mosque in Mazar-i-Sharif surrounded and attacked the offices of the United Nations in northern Afghanistan today, killing seven foreign staff workers, a spokesman for the Afghan National Police commander for northern Afghanistan has reported, according to the nytimes.com.
