Ghatasthapana Or Nalasvanegu

September 29, 2011: all Nepalese Hindu households have started off the longest and the most important Hindu festival called Dashain or Mohani yesterday, some setting up the holy water jars at their prayer rooms while the Nevah community sowing the seeds of the buckwheat at their prayer rooms for offering the plants to the goddess of supreme power Mahalaksmi on the tenth day of the Mohani or Dashain. The plants are called nalasvan
Starting on this day, devotees visit one goddess each morning and evening until the ninth goddess. The nine goddesses are the manifestations of Mahalaksmi that has won the victory over the demon called Mahisasur on the tenth day. So, all Nepalese Hindus celebrate the victory day on the tenth day.
Most of the state agencies remain closed for a week. People return to their home for celebrating this festival with their family members, relatives and friends.
Usually, the monsoon ends by this time but this year rains have continued. Possibly, this year the Dashain or Mohani would be wet judging from the continuation of rains.
