Government for Paying Medical Expenses of Koirala in Singapore

Issue 47, November 22, 2009

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

On November 18, 2009, the government of Madhav Nepal has decided to pay for the treatment of Nepali Congress Girija Prasad Koirala in Singapore including the cost of staying of his daughter and nephew with him for the period of his treatment in Singapore. Somebody has estimated that the cost of the treatment of Koirala in Singapore might be Rs 20 million. The taxpayers have to cover so much cost of the treatment of one influential person whereas thousands of Nepalis have been dying without having simple tablets of diarrhea and common cold in the remote areas. However, the legislators have been advocating the medical treatment as the fundamental rights of all Nepalis.
