Government Honored 13 Burned-to-Death Soldiers

On Sunday, April 26, 2009, in a statement, Spokesperson for the Government of Nepal Krishna Bahadur Mahara stated that the Government of Nepal has honored the thirteen soldiers died in course of performing the duty risking their lives while dousing the bushfire at Srinath Danda of the Ramechap district, declaring them martyrs and providing the families of each dead soldier with one million rupees, children of each martyr with free education up to 12 grades, and one of the family members with a job at the local level with priority. The government also sent condolences to the loved ones of each dead soldier.

The government also stated in the statement that Defense Minister Badal has visited the site and took note of the field situation on the day of the incident.
