By KTM Metro Reporter In Kathmandu
On Sunday, September 13, 2009, the Parliamentary Committee on Public Account has held the hearing on the state of affairs of the state-run corporations responsible for various sorts of public service delivery. Most of the general managers of the state-run corporations have said that they have not been able to achieve the targets due to the political instability and change of general managers following the change of government. In addition, the political interferences in the businesses of the corporations and recruitment of incapable staff have also contributed to the inefficient running of the corporations. The members of the Parliamentary Committee on Public Account have come to the conclusion that the public corporations set up more than fifty years have no relevancy in the present context, and the lack of accountability and transparency in the businesses of the corporations have also led to the corporations running in huge losses.
