High-level State Employees In Illegal Clearing Of Forests

July 16, 2012: hearing on the cases against District Forest Officers of Bara and Daduldhura: Mohan Koirala and Dhanichandra Thakuri respectively, the Division Bench of judges Kashi Raj Dahal and Chitra Dev Joshi of the Administrative Court yesterday passed the directive to the government to punish bureaucrats involved in deforestation despite holding high government offices, as the Administrative Court found out bureaucrats were involved in the depletion of community forests in various districts, writes ‘The Himalayan Times’.
The Division Bench of the Administrative Court also drew the attention of the Office of the Prime Minister and the Commission on Investigation into Abuse of Authority to the need for taking an appropriate action against such staffs.
The Division Bench in its ruling also said that it found out massive deforestation in Dadeldhura, Kailali, Banke, Bardiya, Sarlahi, Sindhuli, Terhathum, Nawalparasi and Panchthar districts and the government required to take actions against the bureaucrats involved in such offence; it also found out such high-ranking culprits enjoyed the political protection, writes ‘The Himalayan Times’.
