Human Trafficking In Conjunction With State Officials

Kathmandu: After the study of the report prepared based on the onsite inspection in the gulf countries, the International Relations and Labor Committee of the Legislature-Parliament has concluded that the human trafficking has been happening with the assistance of the State mechanism, the news in “gorkhapatra” of today stated.

 

Sixty percent of the laborers going illegally to work in the gulf countries had gone in conjunction with the immigration officials, airport security, and airline officials, the report stated. The same mechanism has been working for sending laborers illegally to Srilanka, China and African countries, the news stated.

 

A Parliamentary team headed by Prabhu Shah: the then Chairman of the International Relations and Labor Committee of the Legislature-Parliament had visited the gulf countries such as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, UAE  for ten days for the onsite study on the situation and condition of laborers in Chaitra (March/April); the team had an interaction with the Nepalese laborers, the officials of the Nepalese embassy and other stakeholders, and then prepared a report on it and submitted it to the International Relations and Labor Committee of the Legislature-Parliament on Tuesday, August 8, 2017, the news stated.

 

The International Relations and Labor Committee of the Legislature-Parliament set up three sub-committees to discuss the findings of the report with the concerned three ministries. Lawmaker Bharatbahadur Khadka coordinates the sub-committee set up for discussing the matters concerning the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lawmaker Pemba Lama coordinates the sub-committee for discussing the matters concerning the Ministry of Labor and Employment, and Lawmaker Lalita Kumari Regmi for discussing the matters concerning the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, according to the news.
