Interim legislative Session Called on November 19, 2007

Interim Head of State and Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala in consultation with the Speaker of the Interim Legislature Subhas Nemwang set the date for sitting the regular session of the Interim Legislature and called the session to begin at 3:00 P.M. on November 19, 2007. The Interim Head of State called the session following the parliamentary regulations that require sitting the session of the Interim Legislature after two months from the end of the previous session. The last session ended on August 23, 2007.

The special session of the Interim legislature was to sit on October 29, 2007 after the opening of it on October 11, 2007 following the petition filed by the CPN-Maoist along with the CPN-Unified and the CPN-United-Left-Front demanding to declare Nepal a republic and adopt a proportional electoral system for the CA polls. Initially, the special session was to sit on October 14 and 15 for discussing the proposal later on shifted to October 16 following the request of the CPN-UML. On October 16, the seven-party alliance requested the Speaker for deferring it to October 29.
