Leaders Began Searching For Leaders
By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu
March 28, 2010: Leaders have started intra party and inter party discussions after the demise of towering political figure Girija Prasad Koirala on March 20, 2010 to fill out the political vacuum he has left for second-generation leaders.
Leaders of UCPN-Maoist and NC sat together on March 27, 2010 to find out a common ground to stand firmly against any possible external political viruses attacking them and making them sick if not killing them. Although leaders of the UCPN-Maoist and NC are nowhere near to agree on anything, at least they have sat together to discuss the matters concerning them the most. One of them must emerge as a torchbearer to lead all other politicians to break up the current political deadlock.
Leaders of the NC have also started off finding out a leader that could step into the shoe of Girija Prasad Koirala although it might be quite big for any leader claiming for his position particularly the trio of Acting NC President Sushil Koirala, Senior NC Leader Sher Bahadur Deuba, and NC Parliamentary Party Leader Ram Chandra Poudel. They have different qualities but one thing common they have is all of them are deadly against the Maoists.
Leader of NC and CPN-UML also have sat together to discuss how they could move forward working together in absence of Girija Prasad Koirala. Most of the NC leaders have been uncomfortable with the most incompetent Prime Minister Madhav Nepal. They have concluded that Madhav Nepal has done nothing right except for putting his own men on the position of political appointees. For example, despite the strong opposition of his deputy Sujata Koirala and some other NC leaders, Madhav Nepal has appointed his henchman Dr. Yuva Raj Khatiwada to the governor of the Central Bank of Nepal.
Leaders of UCPN-Maoist, NC, and CPM-UML also have sat together and discussed the question of how they are going to steer the High Level Political Mechanism (HLPM) in absence of Girija Prasad Koirala. It is one nothing to claim the inheritance of Girija Prasad Koirala and actually to lead the HLPM is another. So, claimants should have the ability to lead the HLPM rather than simply seeking the inheritance.
