Major Parties Creating Win-win Situation For All Parties

Issue 52, December 23, 2012

By KTM Metro Reporter

December 16, 2012: talking to the reporters with smiles at the headquarters of the UCPN-Maoist in Kathmandu today, spokesman for the UCPN-Maoist Agni Sapkota said that the major political parties were reaching a deal that would make all parties winners; none of the parties would be a loser. He did not elaborate the deal that would put all parties at the win-win situation.

According to another report, the current government would remove all legal hurdles to holding elections to a new CA, and then turn over the power to the NC for holding elections in April/May this year keeping all the issues concerning a new constitution on hold. Obviously, the ruling parties are now not talking about the federalism and federal states.

Senior leader of NC Sher Bahadur Deuba said that his party should take the proposal forwarded by the ruling parties and trust them. Some other political leaders also said that the leaders of major political parties have been closer to trusting each other.

However, the Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN) has stated that it would launch street protests against the deal the four political forces have reached if it were to go against the federalism and federal states following the ethnic names.

President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav wanted to make sure that the political parties reach a deal that would break the current political gridlock before going to India for a state visit in the last week of December 2012.
