Major Tasks Of Integration Of Maoists Combatants

November 15, 2011: the Army Integration Special Committee (AISC) yesterday has approved the plan on the integration, rehabilitation and voluntary retirement of Maoist combatants with some amendments to it, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes.

Talking to the reporters, AISC member Barshaman Pun has said that the AISC in the meeting held yesterday has decided to set the ranks of the combatants to be integrated into the army based on the level of their education at the time of UNMIN verification and that of now, among others.

The AISC has approved that the integration of the combatants would be following the standard of he Nepal Army, the government would pay half of the amount given to the retiring combatants to the families of the dead combatants as compensation, and a special package would be prepared for the disabled combatants, ‘gorkhapatra’ of today writes.

The AISC is sending technical teams to the cantonments on November 16 to complete the survey and regrouping of the combatants by November 23. Regrouping means grouping the combatants into the group of combatants wanting to be integrated into the Nepal Army, the second group of combatants willing to have the training package and the last group of combatants opting for retirement.
