Maoists Came Out of Oli Government

Kathmandu, July 12, 2016:
In a letter signed off by Prachanda: Chairman of CPN-Maoist-Center handed over by Janardan Sharma: former commander of the Maoist army said that the Maoists have withdrawn the support for the Oli government as it did not honor the nine-point agreement, and the three-point gentlemanly agreement it has reached with KP Oli, the news on Khabardabli.com stated today.
Chairman Prachanda had repeatedly met with Oli before taking the drastic decision on the exit of the Maoists from the Oli government. Prachanda also had met with President of NC Sher Bahadur Deuba that had started off calling on the Maoists to change the Oli government immediately after he got elected to his party president. He had even got the nod of Prachanda to change the Oli government but the last minute nine-point agreement had saved the Oli government disappointing Deuba.
Ramchandra Poudel another NC leader and rival to Deuba for the job of the NC presidency had not been in favor of changing the Oli government, as Sujata Koirala: daughter of later Girija Prasad Koirala also did not like to change the government. Both of them did not want to see Deuba becoming a prime minister soon.
Chairman of RPP-Nepal said that the Maoists’ action of going out of the government is detrimental to the country. Chairman of NWPP Narayanman Bijuckchhe had some days ago warned of the dissolve of the parliament and new elections if the Oli government were to fall.
Oli is not in a mood to resign but is ready to face the no-confidence vote in the parliament, according to another news posted on the Setopati.com.
NC has called an emergency meeting of its central committee to discuss the recent political development.
Chairman Prachanda had been running from pillar to post to form a consensus government but Oli has been sitting firmly on his powerful chair either doing nothing or doing something against forming a consensus government. Prachanda had been saying that without a consensus government, it would be hard to enforce the constitution.
A consensus government means a government of all political parties willing to join to enforce a new constitution. The Madheshi leaders have been deadly against the Oli and his government. They are willing to support any government other than of the Oli, as Oli had been not willing to meet any one of the demands the Madheshi leaders had put forward.
NC, the Maoists, and the Madheshi parties could have a majority government. Prachanda had been telling the people that he was not willing to head a majority government but he was willing to be the head of a consensus government.
Reaching a consensus is hard but the Nepalese political leaders had shown that they could reach a consensus whenever they needed it. They reached a consensus on adopting a new constitution, on holding a second election to a Constituent Assembly, and on making the Chief Justice the Chairman of the Council of ministers for holding the elections.
The Oli government was made up of 13 political parties primarily of small parties except for the CPN-Maoist-Center. Now, after the exit of the Maoists, the 12-party government has been a minority government. Oli needs to perform a miracle to stand up to the challenges posed by the exit of Maoists to his government.
