Maoists Celebrated People’s Movement Day

On April 06, 2009, the Maoists celebrated the 19th People’s Movement Day holding mass rallies in various towns according to the State-run Radio Nepal.
Speaking at the mass rally held in Kathmandu, Prime Minister Prachanda said that the members of the Constituent Assembly (CA) should not make the CA the place of doing things other than crafting a new constitution; he also said that the people speaking against the army integration have been actually speaking against the peace process; he said that the need of hour was to fight for the rule of law and for crafting a new constitution.
Speaking at the mass rally held in Pokhara, Maoist Leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha said that boycotting the cabinet meeting and obstructing the sessions of the CA, the CPN-UML leaders have been assisting the reactionary forces.
Speaking at the mass rally in Ghorahi, Minister for Communications and Information Krishna Bahadur Mahara said that the NC and the CPN-UML with other reactionary forces have been intriguing to prevent the crafting of a new constitution.
Similarly, speaking at a mass rally Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Dev Gurung said that if the reactionary forces attempt to corner the Maoists then their fighters would come out of the cantonments and fight against them.
Speaking at a mass rally held in Sindhuli another Maoist leader CP Gajurel said that fearing the Maoists would be popular among the people from their people-oriented programs the NC and CPN-UML have been obstructing the sessions of the CA.
