Maoists Freeing Legislature For Three Days And Launching Movement

Maoist Chairman Prachanda has said that the central committee meeting of his party held on Saturday, November 21 has decided to set free the legislature for three days for debating the budget for the fiscal year 2009 (2066) and passing it in view of the responsibility of his party to the people. Currently, the government is running on the advance budget passed by the legislature for three months.
The Maoist legislators have been holding the legislature hostage already for more than 40 days but have not broken the record set by the CPN-UML legislators holding it hostage for 57 days.
The Maoist legislators have been holding the legislature hostage demanding to debate the unconstitutional move of the President on directly writing a letter to the army chief whereas legislators of other 18 political parties including major two political parties such as NC and CPN-UML have been saying the President has done it for saving democracy.
The central committee meeting of the Maoist party has also decided to launch a third round of movement at the same time keeping open the option of dialogues with the leaders of other political parties for the consensus politics. Following the program of the third round of the movement, the Maoists will engage in the publicity of their movement until November 30, 2009, and then the organizations affiliated to the Maoists will hold protests, then the Maoists will call for a political shutdown of the whole country for three days: December 20, 21, and 22, 2009.
