Kathmandu: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba flew from Andradha Pradesh to Bihar have had talks with Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar when Kumar made a courtesy call on Prime Minister Deuba on the evening of Saturday, August 26, 2017 focusing on the damages the recent floods had done in Nepal and Bihar. Prime Minister Deuba has stressed the needs for both the countries making joint efforts on controlling the floods for mitigating the damages done to the lives and properties on both sides of the border between Nepal and India, the news in “gorkhapatra” of today stated quoting the secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

 

Previously, Nepal and India had holds talks at the central level and hardly gone down to the State level. However, Prime Minister Deuba broke the tradition of talking only at the central level, and went to Bihar to have talks with the Chief Minister of Bihar over the annual recurring floods both in Nepal and adjoining Indian State Bihar causing billions of NPR worth of losses of property and human lives on both sides of the border between Nepal and India.

 

Prime Minister Deuba visits Bodh Gaya where Lord Buddha got enlightenment today. Then, Deuba is scheduled to fly back to New Delhi from where he will fly back home.

 

Former Prime Minister Prachanda gave the thumbs up to the prime minister’s visit to India but another former Prime Minister KP Oli thumbs down.

 

Prachanda said that Prime Minister Deuba had given importance to the enforcement of the previous agreements, and to the most essential subject matters making his visit to India beneficial to Nepal.

 

Oli said that talking about the amendment to the constitution of Nepal at the joint press conference in New Delhi, Prime Minister Deuba has given India the chance to interfere in the internal matters of Nepal, and his party CPN-UML has decided to draw an attention of the prime minister to this issue, the news in “gorkhapatra” of today stated.
