Meeting Of Leaders Of Three Major Parties
By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu
On January 5, 2010, various leaders of the three major political parties such as UCPN-Maoist, NC and CPN-UML sat together at the Annapurna Hotel in Kathmandu to talk on the agenda for ending the current political deadlock.
The six-point agenda is 1. Review of enforcement of agreements reached in the past, 2. Identify the reasons for mistrust and build confidence among political parties, 3. Debate the President’s unconstitutional move, 4. Complete the army integration and peace process, 5. Write a new constitution in time, 6. Agree on power sharing and management of the transition period.
They have not come to any conclusions but have agreed on holding a summit meeting of the leaders of the three major political parties at the residence of NC President Girija Prasad Koirala on January 6, 2010 with the six-point agenda.
Political leaders have not moved even an inch toward the consensus on resolving the current political deadlock, as all of them have not moved back even an inch from their stand on their political beliefs. They have been going on head-on confrontation.
