Nationwide Traffic Shutdown In Nepal

Issue 34, August 22, 2010

By KTM Metro Reporter

August 16, 2010: Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalists (NEFIN) has enforced the nationwide traffic shutdown on August 15, 2010 disregarding the request of the human rights activists and businesspersons. The nation has made a huge economic loss and people in general have suffered from the inconvenience. Poor people could not go to work, sick people remain at home, economic activities remain standstill, and people in general have suffered.

Shutting down the nation for a day, has NEFIN succeeded in achieving the objective of putting pressure on the political parties to complete the peace process and writing of a new constitution? Have political leaders felt the pressure? If you are a sincere person you will certainly say ‘no’.  So, this method of troubling people to put pressure on the politicians has proved to be wrong. You guys need to adopt some other methods to put pressure on the politicians rather than the nationwide traffic shutdown.
