NC Leaders Against High Level Mechanism

Issue 49, December 6, 2009

BY KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

On November 29, 2009, speaking at the interaction program in Kathmandu, Deputy Prime Minister Sujata Koirala has said that some NC top leaders including Vice-president and Parliamentary Leader Ramchandra Poudel have been conspiring against the formation of the high level political mechanism (HLPC). She has said that CPN-UML leader KP Oli also has objected to form a HLPC at the meeting held recently with her father and NC President Girija Prasad Koirala.

However, she has said that the top three leaders have agreed on forming a HLPC to break the current political deadlock and to put the peace process back on track and ensure timely writing of a new constitution.

Ramchandra Poudel has been the most aggressive opponent of any good thing done in the interest of Nepal. For example, he has marched from the International Convention Hall at New Baneswore in Kathmandu to Gaushala Pashupati opposing the appointment of the Nepalese priests to the Pashupati shrine. He has been one of the staunch defenders of the undemocratic action of the President on directly writing a letter to the army chief.
