Nepal Army Deployed For Election Security At All Constituencies

October 21, 2013: the Nepal Army has deployed more than 61,000 soldiers, more than 40 soldiers at each constituency of 240 constituencies in the 75 districts starting on Sunday, October 20, 2013, according to the spokesman for the Nepal Army Jagadish Chandra Pokharel, the news in the ‘gorkhapatra’ of today says.
The army will work under its chain of command following the unified security plan. The concerned district administration will direct and mobilized the army as required for the security of the elections.
One captain and another lieutenant will command the more than 40 soldiers at each constituency. The army will be the outer line of the security after the armed police. The army will also provide the security for transporting the ballot papers and ballot boxes and other election materials.
The Nepal army has made provision for keeping one helicopter at each region of the five development regions to cope with any possible incident, and with the requirement for additional security.
