Nepal Closing Mount Everest for 10 Days in May 2008

The Ministry of Tourism of the Government of Nepal announces its intention to close Mount Everest from May 01-10, 2008 paving the way for the smooth relay of the China’s Olympic torch to the summit. Complying to the request of the Chinese Government the Nepalese Government has taken this decision antagonizing the mountain climbers.
China is hosting the Olympic games this year.
