Issue 13, March 30, 2008

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

On Wednesday, March 26 in a statement, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Nepal has expressed serious concern about the Nepalese police actions against the Tibetan protestors during the recent protests at the entrance to the United Nations office in Kathmandu, Nepal. NHRC has urged the Government of Nepal on honoring the right of individuals to peaceful assembly and peaceful protest. It also shows its concern over the arrest of Nepali human rights activists who held a sit-in protest against the police actions against the protesting Tibetans as reported by Nepalnews.com mk Mar 26 08. Nepaleles police have arrested hundreds of protesting Tibetans and injured dozens of them while intervening in their protest against the Chinese crackdown on Tibetan pro-independence demonstrators.
