Nepal Police Issuing Arrest Warrants To Casino Operators
By KTM Metro Reporter
November 12, 2010: the Nepal Police has issued arrest warrants to five casino operators in Kathmandu charging them of allowing Nepalese nationals to play violating the laws of the land. The law enforcement people have many laws to enforce but they have come down on the casino operators, most probably the casino operators have stopped paying them bonuses or officiating Prime Minister wants to make a few rupees before finally leaving the office so he has ordered the police to go after the casino operators which is true remains to be seen.
Nepalis have been reluctant to report any thief cases to the police because the police take the stock of the lost items but never get those items back to you. The popular belief is that the Police get the thieves and then they share the stolen goods.
The casino industry is quite old. It has started in 1968 and has been earning handsome revenues to the state treasury and the police and at times to the people at the top. The casino industry employs a large number of people and attracts tourists. The police actions might put the jobs and the tourist attraction at risk in the Nepal Tourism Year 2011. if the Nepal Police continue to harass the casino operators then it may jeopardize the industry causing the loss of jobs to the people and revenues to the state. The law enforcement people need to work with heads not with the clubs.
