Nepalese Prime Minister Meets US President

September 23, 2011: Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has had a brief meeting with US President Barack Obama during the reception President Obama has hosted and has talked about the peace and constitution writing in Nepal, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes.
Speaking to the Nepalese reporters in New York, Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has said that America has started off the necessary process for removing his UCPN-Maoist party from the list of terrorists, ‘gorkhapatra’ of today writes quoting the Nepalese state-news agency RSS.
America was about to remove the then CPN-Maoist from the list of the terrorists even in 2008 after it won the leading votes in the elections to the Constituent Assembly in 2008 but the Nepali Congress activists in New York vehemently opposed it forcing the US government to reconsider its decision on removing the CPN-Maoist from the list of terrorists.
