Nepalis For Elections: UK Diplomat

October 3, 2013: speaking at a press meet in Nepalgunj on Tuesday, October 1, 2013, British ambassador to Nepal Andrew James Sparkes has said that Nepali people are for elections.

 

Ambassador Sparkes said that during his recent visits to different districts he found that the locals, political parties, the civil society leaders and representatives of different communities wanted that the elections scheduled for November 19 be held, according to the news posted on the ‘government.com’.

 

The ambassador also has said that although political parties have the right to boycott election, any unlawful activities carried out in the name of election boycott could not be considered civic. He said that the U.K. government was strongly in favor of the rule of law in Nepal.
