KTM Reporter

September 7, 2017

Kathmandu: On Wednesday, September 6, 2017, 18,200 political leaders and cadres of different parties filed their nominations for the third-phase elections to be held in province two on September 18, 2017. Thursday, September 7, 2017 is the day for withdrawing the nominations if some candidates would change their mind, and did not want to fight the elections, according to the Election Commission. So, the actual number of candidates for 6,627 offices at 136 local units in the province two would be known on Thursday only.

For the political leaders choosing the candidates has been the most challenging task, as they have to meet the aspirations of so many leaders and cadres, which has been almost impossible task causing some politicians to change their political affiliation to the parties that offered them nominations. Some aspirants to the nominations ended up physically fighting when they did not get the nominations.

The Election Commission will set up 3,578 polling centers at 2,166 polling locations, and deploy 31,500 State employees, and a large number of security personnel for holding the elections peacefully and without any troubles.
